Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 28 at West Main Baptist Church in Artesia, New Mexico for longtime Artesia resident Marvin H. Sanders of Burleson, Texas. Mr. Sanders, 93, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas. Rev. Gavin Vaughan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Mr. Sanders grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. He was born June 8, 1909 in Peacock, Texas; the son of Charley Sanders and Martha Doss Sanders. On August 16, 1930 he was married to Lorene H. Potts in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They came to Artesia in November of 1939 from Santa Fe, N.M. She preceded him in death April 3, 1999. He was also preceded in death by a son James Sanders in 1983; and by five sisters; and one brother. Mr. Sanders was retired owner of Sanders Office Supply and Lorenes Crafts. He was a member of West Main Baptist Church; a lifetime member of Valley Lions Club for 50 plus years; and was active with Senior Citizens. He enjoyed his family and hobbies including crafts, fishing, and hunting. Survivors include sons Fred L. Sanders and wife Jan of Euless, Texas and Dr. Sam H. Sanders and wife Candi of Houma, La.; a daughter Kay L. Sivley and husband Bob of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
