Together at last...

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Marta A. Fierro of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Fierro, 91, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at her home.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jayson Vargas, Miguel Fierro, Jody Florez, Jonathan Fierro, Gilbert Grado, Gabriel Grado, and Greg LaVarta.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Marta was born August 27, 1921 in Colorado City, Texas the daughter of Pablo Almanza and Augustina Ortega Almanza. She came to Artesia in 1939 from Texas.

On December 31, 1940 she was married to Manuel C. Fierro in Artesia. He preceded her in death December 12, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.

Marta was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She loved the outdoors with fishing, hunting, and camping with her family.

Survivors include her daughters Mary Vargas of the family home, and Veronica Baker and husband Michael of Brunswick, Georgia sons Manuel C. Fierro of Carlsbad, N.M., and Robert Fierro and wife Dora of Lubbock, Texas 12 grandchildren 16 greatgrandchildren and 2 greatgreatgranchildren brother Pablo O. Almanza of Roswell, N.M. and numerous nieces and nephews.
