Mark Walters, Iii

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Mark Tillman Walters, III of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Walters, 48, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in Hagerman, New Mexico.

Michael Joiner will officiate at the services with burial of the cremated remains to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Mark was born August 24, 1964 in Artesia, New Mexico the son of Mark Tillman Walters and Beverly Jan Lynes. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

He served his country in the United States Coast Guard.

Mark was a driller and attended Hermosa Dr. Church of Christ. He was an avid sportman and loved golf, baseball, and football especially the Bulldogs. He also enjoyed playing the guitar.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Marilyn Lynes, and Orin and Juanita Mahaffey.

Survivors include mother Jan Duckworth of Artesia stepfather Jon Duckworth of Tahlequak, Oklahoma father Mark Tillman Walters II and wife Kathy of Artesia brothers Brent Patterson and wife Leslie of Artesia, and Robert Walters of Artesia sisters Christy Walters of Artesia, and Amy Russell of Artesia nephew Brent Patterson of Artesia nieces Amy Patterson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Marenna Havens of Artesia, Kaelee Havens of Artesia, and Nevaeh Patterson of Artesia and an uncle Gary Lynes of Los Alamos, N.M.
