Marilla Meli

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, at Terpening Son Chapel for Marilla Roberta Wheeler Meli, 1208 Centre Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Meli, 65, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at her home. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Meli was born April 3, 1937 in Hagerman, New Mexico; the daughter of James Denmon Wheeler and Lillie Blanche Banks Wheeler. She was a 1955 graduate of Artesia High School and had served in the United States Navy. She was a sales clerk and member of First Baptist Church. She returned to Artesia in 1994 from Midland, Texas. She loved to fish and she loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and one brother. Survivors include her son Richard Lee Sharpe of Artesia; daughter Cynthia Lynn Hall of Troup, Texas; grandchildren Kimberly Montgomery of Dallas, Texas and Carrie Ann Montgomery of Dallas; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews including Paula J. Clark of Artesia.
