Marian Mcgeachy

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28th, at Hermosa Church of Christ for Marian Louise (Riley) McGeachy of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. McGeachy, 79, died December 18, 2018 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, N.M.

Leonard Lauriault will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Marian was born October 19, 1939, the first girl born at the then new Artesia General Hospital in Artesia N.M., the daughter of T.P. "Pat" Riley and Lilly Louise (Newman) Riley.

She was a member of National Honor Society and attended Abilene Christian College after graduating from Artesia High School in1957.

On July 11, 1958 she was married to W. A. "Bill" McGeachy in Artesia, and they celebrated their 60th anniversary this year .

Together they had three children, W. P. "Bill" McGeachy (MaryJane) of Alamogordo, NM, Lisa Louise Lauriault (Leonard) of Tucumcari, NM and Glen Alan McGeachy of Tucumcari, NM.

Her grandchildren are Jennifer Lynn Brown, Justin Lane Brown, and Jarrett Lee Brown. Great grandchildren are Ashlyn Fay Smith and Patric Ray Szaloy.

Marian and Bill owned and operated Riley Oil Company in Artesia. She had been a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader for years. One of the things she greatly enjoyed was getting together monthly with the "Girls of 57". She loved people and made many friends wherever she went. She was a faithful, lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, NM or the NM Christian Children's Home in Portales, NM.
