Maria Wells

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 22, at Trinity Temple for Luz Maria Wells of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Wells, 61, died Tuesday, February 16, 2016.

Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with cremation to follow services. Pallbearers are Scott Hoy, Frank Barrera, Bob Atole, Adrian Levario, Gabriel Gomez, Michael Leyva, George Flores and Jose Flores.

Maria was born May 16, 1954 in Presidio, Texas; the daughter of Francisco Flores and Edubijes (Montez) Flores. She was a longtime Artesia resident.

On Dec. 2, 1989 she was married to Todd Wells in Artesia.

Maria was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and crafting, and loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Bob Webb Atole, brothers Juan Manuel Munoz and Javier Flores; and a grandson Mattlee Atole.

Survivors include her spouse Todd Wells of the family home; daughters Syrena Briscoe and husband William of Artesia, Donna Atole of Artesia, and Desiree Atole of Artesia; sons Matt Atole and wife Kyla and Bob Atole, Jr. and wife Renee of Artesia; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister Rosa Wells of Artesia; brothers Frank Flores, Jr. of Alamogordo, N.M., Benito Flores of Roswell, N.M., Jose Flores of Lovington, N.M., and George Flores of Artesia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
