Maria Salazar

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria Guadalupe Salazar of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Salazar, 55, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Molina, Gallo Olivas, Ramiro Flores, Jr., Joe Olivas, Alfredo Gabaldon, Jr., and Luis M. Olivas

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Maria was born May 19, 1958 in Odessa, Texas the daughter of Pablo T. Olivas and Refugia Muniz Olivas. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On January 19, 1976 she was married to Samual Salazar in Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death October 23, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her father son Sammy Salazar, Jr. and a sister Olga Olivas.

Maria was a Court Advocate at Grammys House and had attended West Main Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her garden.

Survivors include her sons Alzado Salazar and wife Ermelinda, and Jon Anthony Salazar both of Artesia daughter Marisela Rubio of Kermit, Texas mother Refugia Muniz Olivas of Artesia 6 brothers 4 sisters 10 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.
