Maria Rodriguez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria Vega Rodriguez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Rodriguez, 86, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Victor Rodriguez, Khoi Tran, Mateo Lopez, Ryan Rodriguez, Manuel Gonzalez, Daniel Hernandez, Nathaniel Hall, and Seth Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Maria was born August 23, 1928 in Las Peuntes Meoqui, Chihuahua Mexico; the daughter of Miguel Vega and Maria (Paz) Vega.

On March 20, 1952 she was married to Raul Rodriguez in Mexico. They came to Artesia in 1962 from Mexico. He preceded her in death January 12, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rafeal, Ramiro, and Ramon Vega; and sisters Simona Valles, and Manuela Lopez.

Maria was a homemaker, and worked for a short time in the cafeteria at the Cottonwood School. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and attended the Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include her daughters Carmen Lopez of Edmond, Oklahoma, Maribel Lopez and husband Robert of Artesia, and Yolanda Hall and husband Randy of Tabor, South Dakota; sons Victor Rodriguez and wife Mary Helen of Artesia, and Raul Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Shiela of Edgewood, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
