Maria Ponce

Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 25, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria Hernandez Ponce of Thornton, Colorado.

Fr. Francis Lazer will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sebastian Ponce, Roman Ponce, Albert Valenzuela, Damian Ochoa, Reynaldo Valenzuela, and Michael Contreraz.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandson Josias Ponce and great-grandson Makai Norris.

A rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Grace Sunday, November 24, at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Church Sunday from 4:30 PM - 630 p.m.

Mrs. Ponce was born and raised in Artesia, New Mexico, she moved to Colorado in 2011 to be with family, She was 85 when she died at her home in Thornton on November 17, 2019.

Maria was born January 20, 1934 in Artesia, New Mexico the daughter of Guadalupe Hernandez and Seferina (Delgado) Hernandez.

On February 28, 1954 she was married to Alvino M. Ponce in Artesia, N.M. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Efrain Ponce, Ivan Ponce, and Alvino Jr. Ponce and her parents Guadalupe and Seferina Hernandez.

She is survivied by her daughters Yolanda Ponce, Silvia Ponce, and Regina Ponce, her grandchildren, Sebastian Ponce, Ambrosia Ponce Perez, Francisco Valenzuela, Jazmin Ponce, Diamante Valenzuela, Roman Ponce, Tiffany Evans, Kassandra Valenzuela, and Josias Ponce, as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
