Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Maria R. Paz, West Cleveland Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Paz, 83, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Mark Reeves and Luis Chavez will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Paz, Henry Paz, Javier Galvan, Dale Gilyard, Henry Rodriquez, and Javier Galvan, Jr. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 12:00 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Paz was born July 4, 1922 in Ruidosa, Texas; the daughter of Abelardo Parraz and Antonia Morales Parraz. On Nov. 18, 1949 she was married to Benigno C. Paz in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She came to Artesia 57 years ago. Her husband preceded her in death in October of 1962. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by a brother Frank Morales. She was a homemaker and member of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include her sons L. Henry Paz of Midland, Texas, Richard P. Paz and wife Rachel of Hobbs, N.M., and Benigno Paz of Dallas, Texas; daughters Virginia Rodriquez and husband Henry of Artesia, Socorro Reeves of Alamogordo, N.M., Hope McGinnis and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas, Rosa Gilyard and husband Dale of Dallas, Josie Rendon of Midland, Texas, and Amy Galvan and husband Javier of Rio Rancho, a brother Pete Parraz and wife Consuelo of Marfa, Texas; and 29 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
