Maria Estrada

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 15, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria Jimenez Estrada, 1102 N. Roselawn Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Estrada, 90, died Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Stephanie Estrada, Joe Martinez, Joe Estrada Mic Hernandez, Jonathan Perez and Sam Perez. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Martinez, and all other family and friends. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Terpening Son Chapel. Mrs. Estrada was born April 8, 1916 in Torreon, Mexico; the daughter of Anastacio Jimenez and Melquilade Pedrosa Jimenez. On Nov. 21, 1942 she was married to Joe M. Estrada in Cloudcroft, N.M. She came to Artesia in March 1945. He preceded her in death Sept. 26, 1959. She worked at the Artesia Country Club Pro Shop from 1945 to 1959. She then became a housekeeper until her retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 daughters, 3 sons, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors include daughters Estella E. Hernandez of Martinez, Georgia, and Jeane Estrada of Artesia; sister Belen Bueno of El Paso, Texas; 6 grandchildren Greg Estrada of Artesia, Joe Estrada and wife Lorena of El Paso, Rebeca Estrada of Denver, Colorado, Stephanie Estrada and fiance Edward Maestas of Albuquerque, Karyn Estrada of Albuquerque, Miguelangelo Hernandez wife Jackie of Augusta, Georgia; 13 great-grandchildren Jonathan, Sam, Jeremiah Perez, Michael Jimenez, Anthony Lopez, Michael Estrada, Adelina Estrada, Sigourney and Alexis Estrada, Daniel Chavez III, Ashley and Adreanna Estrada, and Christopher Hernandez.
