Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 11, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria L. Catano of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Catano, 85, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.
Fr. Paul Murtagh SSCC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Thompson, Angelo Thompson, Matthew Cardenas, Anna Dornan, Marc Soria, and Julian Hernandez.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Terpening Son Chapel Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Catano was born February 19, 1925 in Ruidosa, Texas the daughter of Juan Nieves Corrales and Maria Aguilar Corrales.
She came to Artesia in 1947 from Texas. On January 20, 1952 she was married to Moises L. Catano in Artesia. He preceded her in death June 20, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joe Corrales.
Maria was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Apostolado, Legion of Mary, Cursillistas, and a Foster Grandparent for the Head Start program in Artesia.
Survivors include daughter Elva Lucero of Las Cruces, N.M. brother Marcelino Corrales of Las Cruces sisters Elisa Corrales of Artesia, and Jane Rosales of Roswell, N.M. grandchildren Daniel and Israel Lucero of Las Cruces greatgrandchildren Aleesha and Alyssa Lucero of Las Cruces.
