Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 13, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Margie Kathrine Boone Shelton Barber Stevens, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Stevens, 98, died Monday, January 10, 2005 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at the services with burial at Seaton Cemetery in Leon Junction, Texas. Pallbearers will be Tex James, Wayne Reed, Kody James, Buck Telford, Jerry Johnson, and David Curry. All visitation will be at Trinity Temple Assembly of God beginning at 8:00 A.M. Thursday. Mrs. Stevens was born August 30, 1906 in San Saba, Texas; the daughter of Daniel Robert Boone and Amanda Smith Boone. On Oct. 21, 1921 she was married to Wert Shelton in Mt. Calm, Texas. He preceded her in death May 1941. In 1943 she married Connie LaVerne Barber in Seagraves, Texas. He died in November of 1966. She later married Bill Stevens in 1985 in Hamilton, Texas. He preceded her in death in April of 1988. She was owned and operated the C M Diner in Arizona and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God and attended Trinity Temple. She was a seamstress, quilt maker, barber, and midwife; and loved playing dominoes. She was a Sunday school teacher and evangelist and held her missionary license for over 50 years doing mission work with the Indians in Arizona. She came to Artesia in 1984 from Hamilton, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sons, one daughter, five brothers, four sisters, and three grandchildren. Survivors include sons Wert Shelton of California, Benny Shelton of Hamilton, Texas, and Buddy Barber of Artesia; a daughter Edythe James of Artesia; 25 Grandchildren 55 great-grandchildren; 56 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild Brooke Champion.
