Margarita Perez

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 2, at Terpening Son Chapel for Margarita Perez, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Perez, 100, died Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. David Brusuelas will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Leaton, Robert Leaton, Russell Morales, Steven Leaton Sr., Steven Leaton Jr., Jamie Leaton. Mrs. Perez was born August 22, 1903 in San Patricio, New Mexico; the daughter of Antonio Sanchez and Carolina Romero Sanchez. On May 15, 1929 she was married to Roberto Perez in Greeley, Colo. She came to Artesia in the mid 1940's from Colorado. He preceded her in death August 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son Joe Perez Sept. 1979. She was a housewife and member of the Artesia Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1949. Survivors include daughters Frances Stotts of Wilmington, Calif., Ann Keesee of Artesia, and Martha Leaton of Artesia; sisters Angel Suniga of Denver, Colo., and Jessie Sedillo of Roswell, N.M.; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
