Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, October 15, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Margarita Navarrette Morales of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Morales, 96, died on October 9, 2021 at her home in Artesia.
Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Aranda, Max Carrasco, Javier Omar Lopez, Rigo Ramirez, Jordan Duran, Anthony Morales, and Tyler Copeland. Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Aranda, Javier Lopez, Giovanni Lopez, and Carter Lopez. A rosary is also scheduled for 1:30 pm on Friday at Our Lady of Grace Church.
Margarita was born on March 4, 1925 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; the daughter of Santos Navarrette and Herlinda Cepeda Navarrette. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.
She was married to Antonio Morales on February 14, 1953 in Ojinaga, Mexico. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2003.
She was a woman of prayer and loved attending mass. She enjoyed going on drives in the car, traveling seeing new places and meeting new people. Enjoyed attending a Joan Sebastian concert with her son. She liked gardening and daisies were her favorite flower. She loved being pampered getting her hair and nails done, playing Connect 4 with her youngest son Pinky and also exercising with him. She loved her pet birds. She loved her family deeply and her sons were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Tomas Morales, three brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her daughters Virginia Sanchez and husband Ruben, Delma Carrasco and husband Maximo, Irma Crawford and husband John, Olivia Lopez and husband Albert, and Dora Morales; sons Tony Morales and Humberto Ron Morales; sisters Linda Leyva and husband Adolfo, and Irene Pando and husband Enrique; grandchildren Beatrice Sanchez, Cielo Sanchez, Adriana Vasquez, Cecelia Copeland, Max Carrasco, Daniel Aranda, Monica Aranda, Javier Lopez, Anthony Morales and Jordan Duran; sixteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Kindred staff for all of the wonderful care they gave our mom as she prepared to go meet her Lord! Also, we would like to thank J&J and Rosa Lopez, her caregiver.
