Margaret Roberts

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Margaret Meador Roberts, 1802 W. Briscoe Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Roberts, 93, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at her home.

Monty Leavell will officiate at the services, Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Skinner, John Skinner, Jonathan Norris, Kip Buckner, Kevin Buckner, Bob Buckner, Payton DeMerritt and Chuck Mogged. No visitation is planned.

Margaret was born June 18, 1919 in Weed, New Mexico the daughter of John Calvin Buckner and Ella Green Buckner. She graduated from Hope NM High School in 1938 and attended Cosmetology School.

She married Truman Gilbert Meador on May 18, 1940. They came to Artesia in 1950 from Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1984.

On September 28, 2001, she was married to J. D. Roberts in Ruidoso Downs, N.M. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2011.

She owned and operated Margarets Beauty Shop for 55 years. She attended First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Artesia Beauticians Association and held several offices. She also enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas and loved to be outside gardening,

She was preceded in death by her parents, by siblings, and sons John Roy Meador and Jackie Don Meador.

Survivors include daughters Rhonda Lester and husband Earl of California and Betty Skinner of Artesia grandchildren Tommy Skinner, John Skinner, Dianna Lester, and Sandi Wilkie greatgrandchildren Shablee Skinner and fianc Travis DeMerritt, Courtney Norris, Johnathan Norris, Wlsan Wilkie and Timsan Wilkie and a greatgreatgrandson Payton DeMerritt.
