Margaret Montgomery

Graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17 at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Margaret Louise Montgomery of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Montgomery died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at San Pedro Nursing Facility in Artesia.

Tony Pennington will officiate at the services.

Margaret was born October 28, 1926 in Bovina, Texas to Edgar Chase and Etta Marie (Richards) Chase.

She was a long-time Artesia area resident and worked as a homemaker.

Margaret was married to R.B. Standard who preceded her in death on December 22, 1969. She later married R.C. Hodges and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1991. Then on April 17, 1999 she married Clay Montgomery in Mayhill, N.M. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister Verna Doughty; and brother Bill Chase.

Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Loco Hills, N.M. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking and loved to spend time with her family.

Survivors include her children Eddie Standard of Artesia, Helen Hoggett of Lovington, N.M., Billy Standard and wife Leona of Artesia, and Lee Roy Standard and wife Mona of Carlsbad, N.M.; siblings George Chase and wife Neva of Artesia, Mack Chase of Artesia, Jim Chase of Albuquerque, N.M., Shirley Blancet and husband Cookie of Lovington, N.M., and Nona Brewer and husband Tommy of Artesia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
