Marcelo Navarrette

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Friday, May 3, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Marcelo Gomez Navarrette, 811 Hank St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Navarrette, 87, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Lakeview Christian Home Northgate in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Fr. Virgilio Flores will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Mr. Navarrette was born February 16, 1915 in Lamesa, Texas; the son of Emeterio Navarrette and Eloisa Gomez Navarrette. On Sept. 1970, he was married to Panfila Alaniz in Carlsbad, NM. He was a longtime area resident. She preceded him in death April 30, 1999. He was a farm laborer and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Survivors include daughter Noema Urqidez of Albuquerque, NM; step-daughter Frances Cardona of Carlsbad; brother Pablo Navarrette of Surprise, Arizona; sisters Epifania Ortega of Loving, NM, Manuela Reza of Artesia, Victoria Hernandez of Glendale, Arizona, Angela Lozano of Hobbs, NM; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
