Marcelino Sosa

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Marcelino B. Sosa of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Sosa, 84, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park following cremation.

A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Sosa was born June 2, 1926 in Dayton, New Mexico the son of Eusebio Sosa and Felipa Briseno Sosa.

He served his country in the United States Navy.

In 1949 he was married to Vera Hernandez in Artesia. He was a lifelong Artesia area resident. She preceded him in death March 27, 1987. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sons Marcelino Sosa, Jr., and Fred Sosa.

Marcelino worked as a Barber and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Survivors include his son Terry Sosa and wife Jo of Artesia daughters Debra Sosa of Artesia, and Betty Lawson and husband Jesse of Midland, Texas brothers Jesse Sosa of Albuquerque, N.M., Chevo Sosa of Colorado, Felipe Sosa of Roswell, N.M., and Adan Sosa of Roswell sisters Ramona Analla of Meza, Arizona, Margie Billaba of Meza, Mary Reyes of Artesia, and Hope Torrez of Roswell 10 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.
