Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Marcela Anaya, of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Anaya, 94, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at her home. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Oscar Anaya, Rene Anaya Jr., Johnny Anaya, Geraldo Anaya, Martin Barragan, David Rosales, Lupito Hernandez Jr., and Guillermo Orquiz Jr. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Mrs. Anaya was born June 18, 1915 in Haciendita, Texas; the daughter of Fernando Holguin and Camila Serrano Holguin. In 1936 she was married to Gabriel Leyva Anaya in Ojinaga, Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Mexico. He preceded her in death November 13, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters Eloisa Hernandez, and Matilda Orquiz; five sisters; and a brother. Marcela was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was also a Cursillista. Survivors include her daughters Ramona Barragan and husband Manuel of Artesia, and Guadalupe Rosales and Ray Lopez of Artesia; sons Vicente Anaya of Artesia, Rene Anaya of Roswell, N.M., Raymond Anaya of Artesia, Gabriel Anaya and wife Evangelina of Espanola, N.M., Jessie Anaya and Elizabeth of Las Cruces, N.M., and Jose Anaya of Artesia; sons-in-law Guillermo Orquiz, and Lupe Hernandez; 37 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
