Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, at Our Lady of Grace Church for Manuela Sanchez of Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Sanchez, 96, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at her home. Burial will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Samuel Calderon, Salvador Sanchez, Tommy Sanchez, Jake Hernandez, Rigo Ramirez, and Joey Lopez. Mrs. Sanchez was born October 10, 1910 in Chisos, Texas; the daughter of Tiburcio Ramirez and Maria De Jesus Ramos Ramirez. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Monday beginning at 4:00 p.m. A prayer vigil will be at church at 6:30 p.m. On June 4, 1932 she was married to Vicente Sanchez in Castolon, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Texas. He preceded her in death May 1989. She also was preceded in death by her parents; son Salvador; grandsons Marcos Maestas and Frankie Sanchez; three brothers; and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Apostolado, the Third Order, and the Cursillestas. Survivors include her sons Dolores Sanchez and wife Delia of Artesia, Leno Sanchez and wife Mary of Artesia, and Ruben Sanchez and wife Virginia of Artesia; daughters Flora Lopez of Albuquerque, N.M., Basilisa Calderon of Albuquerque, Peggy Aguirre and husband Bill of Alamagordo, N.M., and Maria Maestas and husband Leo of Lincoln, Montana; sister Nena Urquieta of Odessa, Texas; 32 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
