Manuela Martinez

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Manuela S. Martinez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Martinez, 79, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at her home.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joey Martinez, Jorge Martinez, Micaela Contreras, Marcos Contreras, Matthew Mata, and Steve Mata. Honorary pallbearers will be Fernando Martinez, Aiden Denetso, Erik Mata, Ismael Mata, Jr., Roger Olvera, and Monique Cardona.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Martinez was born September 27, 1931 in Ruidosa, Texas the daughter of Antonio Serrano and Leogarda Minjarez Serrano.

On Sept. 20, 1951 she was married to Jose P. Martinez in Barrancos de Guadalupe, Ojinaga. She was a lifelong Artesia resident. He preceded her in death June 26, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents an infant son and infant daughter brothers Jesus Serrano, Miguel Serrano and Carlos Serrano and a soninlaw Carlos Martinez.

Manuela was homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son Ysidro Chilo Martinez and wife Senaida of Artesia daughters Delma Mata and husband Ismael of Odessa, Texas Nora Contreras and husband Enrique of Artesia, Norma Armendarez and husband Roy of Artesia, and Delia Denetso and husband Albert of Artesia sisters Martina Acosta of Pecos, Texas, and Margarita Arroyo of Odessa, Texas 11 grandchildren 5 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreatgrandchild.
