Manuela Araujo

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, for Manuela Gonzalez Araujo, 200 Broadway, Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mrs. Araujo, 96, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hobbs Health Care in Hobbs, New Mexico.

A rosary is also scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will be at Lake Arthur Cemetery in Lake Arthur. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Manuela was born February 14, 1915 in San Jose, Texas the daughter of Manuel Gonzalez and Francisca Diaz Gonzalez. She was a longtime area resident.

On Oct. 30, 1940 she was married to Alberto Araujo Sr. in Roswell, NM. He preceded her in death June 30, 2007.

She was a housewife and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, and a member of the Guadalupanas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 2 sons, a daughter, and 2 granddaughters.

Survivors include sons Albert Araujo of Artesia, N.M., and David Araujo of Albuquerque, N.M. daughters Anna Marie Armijo of Hobbs, Consuelo Trujillo of Albuquerque, and Delia Perez of Midland, Texas 16 grandchildren, 23 greatgrandchildren, and 5 reatgreatgrandchildren.
