Services are scheduled at 9:30 AM. Thursday, June 8, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Manuela Nellie Acosta, 811 W. Alvarado, Artesia, New Mexico. PMrs. Acosta, 73, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Casa Maria Nursing Center in Roswell, New Mexico. PFr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ray Vargas, Mike Balencia, Pete Hernandez, Gary Meraz and Frederico Balencia. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Ramirez, Ray Villegas and all nephews. PA rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visiation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. PMrs. Acosta was born June 19, 1932 in Dayton, New Mexico; the daughter of Frederico Balencia and Augustina Ruiz Balencia. POn Dec. 30, 1950 she was married to Eliseo Acosta in Artesia. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia. PShe was a Teacher at Head Start and member of Our Lady of Grace, Christian Mothers, Cursillistas, and St. Francis Third Order. PShe was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband Eliseo Acosta of the family home; son Jerry Acosta of Odessa, Texas; daughters Anita Acosta of Artesia, Sally Coate of Grand Junction, Colorado, Rosie Paniagua of Odessa, and Rose Marie Acosta of Texas; brothers Porfirio Balencia of Artesia, and Leroy Balencia of Roswell; sisters Maria Hernandez of Artesia, Usebia Meraz of Las Cruces, N.M., and Lola Hernandez of El Paso, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
