A celebration mass is scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, August 27, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Manuel Villa Sosa, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Sosa, 76, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005 in Artesia. Burial will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Salsberry, Felix Fierro, Jr., Soki Segura, Cepe Martinez, John Molina and Tommy Ray Chavarria. Honorary pallbearers will be Eulogio Jaramillo, Paul Salberry, Frank Villa, Manuel Molina, Ruben Salas, and Pete Baca. A vigil service is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 A.M. Friday. Mr. Sosa was born September 26, 1928 in Dexter, New Mexico; the son of Florencio Sosa and Juana Villa Sosa. On Sept. 27, 1950 he was married to Natalia Salsberry in Artesia. He was a lifelong Artesia area resident. He served in the Air Force during World War II and Korea. He was a truck driver for Broom Transportation and Brewer Oil, and was also owner of Sosa Tire. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, P.T.A. in school, Boy Scouts, charter member of the Moose Lodge, Urban Renewal Commission, Local Draft Board, and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Leroy Sosa, great-grandchildren Bianca Sosa and Jeremiah Palma, a brother John Sosa and a sister Tillie Moya. Survivors include his wife Natalia Sosa of the family home; best friend Felix Fierro of Artesia; daughters Celeste Martinez and husband Cepe of Artesia, and Sandra Sosa of Artesia; son Lawrence Sosa of Artesia; adopted daughters Elizabeth Jaramillo of Los Lunas, N.M., and Evelyn Jojola of Los Lunas; brother Stephen Sosa of Fayetteville, N. Carolina; sisters Virginia Sosa of Visalia, Calif., and Christine Baggett of Tulare, Calif.; sister-in-law Elida Segura of Artesia; 6 grandchildren Naomi Tarango, Lonnie Tarango, Levi Justice, Adrianne Justice, and Brittany Huerta all of Artesia and John Anthony Sosa of Phoenix, Arizona; and ten great-grandchildren.
