MANUEL DEANDA SOSA

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Manuel DeAnda Sosa of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Sosa, 85, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia, New Mexico.

Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Felix Gomez, David Gomez, Gilbert Gomez, Juan Gomez, Remijio Gomez, and Uriel Gomez. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and friends.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Church Monday beginning at 3:00 p.m. A rosary will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace.

Manuel was born August 25, 1926 in Presidio, Texas the son of Porfirio Sosa and Manuela DeAnda Sosa. He came to Artesia in 1946 from Texas.

Manuel worked as a farm laborer and also a contruction worker. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church

He was preceded in death by his parents brothers Esteban Sosa, Melquides Sosa, Florencio Sosa, Juan Sosa, Reyes Sosa, and Isaias Sosa sisters Marcella Garcia, Concha Baeza, Paula Flores, Angelita Guevarra, Maria Luisa Hernandez, and Juanita Hernandez.

Survivors include his campanion Pina Saiz of the family home daughters Martha Mariscal and husband Manuel of Artesia, and Elia Leyba and John Campbell of Thousand Oaks, CA Son Oscar Sosa and wife Helen Sosa of Artesia sister Maria De la Luz Gomez of Kermit, Texas grandchildren Angela Sosa Boehm of Ft. Collins, CO, Monica Mariscal of Artesia, Marisela Cronian of Artesia, and Mario Mariscal of Artesia 4 greatgrandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
