Manuel Huerta, Jr.

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, October 21 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Manuel S. Huerta, Jr., 507 Cleveland Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Huerta, 49, died Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Father Thomas Smith will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Huerta, Sebastian Huerta, Sammy Madrid, Ben Huerta, Johnny Huerta and Chilo Huerta. Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Garcia, Danny Ybarra and Richard Cardenas and all other friends. A Vigil service is also planned for 6:30 P.M. Friday at Our Lady of Grace. Manuel was born May 10, 1951 in Artesia; the son of Manuel S. Huerta, Sr. and Lola Segoviano Huerta. On January 28, 1970 he was married to Socorro Herrera in Artesia. He was a bus driver for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father Manuel S. Huerta, Sr. in 1997; and by a brother in 1991. Survivors include his wife Socorro Huerta of family home; his mother Lola Huerta of Artesia; sons Manuel Huerta, III and wife Johnnie, Steven Huerta and wife Caroline and Sebastian Huerta and wife Venus all of Artesia; a daughter Michelle Madrid and husband Sammy of Artesia; brothers Ben Huerta of Artesia, Johnny Huerta of Albuquerque, N.M. and Chilo Huerta of Artesia; sisters Sally Carrasco of Carlsbad, N.M., Angie Martinez, Betty Hernandez, Helen Huerta, Corina Gurrola and Gracie Huerta all of Artesia; and grandchildren Cynthia, Skye, Starr, Steven, Rheana and Federico Lico Huerta and Ashley Madrid all of Artesia.
