Manuel Chavez 

Manuel Francisco Chávez, (Meny), como todos lo conocían, nació y creció en Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, México. Entró a este mundo el 10 de octubre de 1963. Era el sexto de siete hermanos. Después de mudarse a Artesia, Nuevo México, se casó con el amor de su vida, Lisa Montaño, el 9 de diciembre de 2003, y juntos formaron una familia con Joey, Jennifer y Karen. En Artesia, trabajó algún tiempo en el aceite, donde hizo muchos amigos. Su pasión era la pelea de gallos. Le encantaba celebrar con todos los que lo amaban y le encantaba organizar estas celebraciones en “Meny’s Bar”, una barra que él mismo construyó en su casa. Siempre fue un momento divertido, ya fueran pocos o muchos. Siempre recordaremos y atesoraremos los recuerdos y los momentos llenos de diversión en esta barra, que fue su orgullo y alegría. Era un hombre alegre y servicial que tenía un corazón de oro y le encantaba ayudar a todos. El 13 de octubre de 2023 se reunió en el Cielo con sus queridos padres, Alfredo y Alicia Chávez, suegro Max Montaño, Tío Robert (Bobby) Montaño, sobrinos Jaime Chávez, Luciano OchoaChávez, Fabián Chávez, y sobrina Lizeth Santiesteban; abuelos Arsenio y Erminia Manzanares y Ofilia Montaño. A Meny le sobreviven su devota esposa, Lisa Chávez, su suegra, Marcella Montaño, sus hijos Karen Chávez y su esposo Erik Rangel, Joey Rayos, Jennifer Rayos; sus nietos Faith Kimble, Marcella Rayos, Manuel Chávez, JoRiah Rayos, Daniel Hernandez, Laura Aguirre, y Adrian Hernandez; sus hermanos Alfredo Chávez, Javier y Gloria Chávez, Rosa y Jimmy Morales, Lupe y Jorge Santiesteban, René y Karla Chávez, Verónica Chávez, sus cuñados, Tawnya y Steven Sanchez, y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.

El velorio será en la Mortoria Terpening & Son de 2 a 4 p.m. el viernes, 20 de octubre de 2023. El rosario será a las 6:30 p.m. el viernes en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Gracia en Artesia, N.M., y la Misa de Funeral será el sábado, 21 de octubre de 2023 a las 10:00 a.m.

Manuel Francisco Chávez, (Meny), like everyone knew him, was born and raised in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico. He entered this world on October 10, 1963. He was the sixth of seven siblings. After moving to Artesia, New Mexico, he married the love of his life, Lisa Montaño, on December 9, 2003, and together, they formed a family with Joey, Jennifer, and Karen. In Artesia, he worked in the oilfield for some time, where he made many friends. His passion was fighting roosters. He loved celebrating with all who loved him and loved hosting these celebrations in “Meny’s Bar”, a bar he built himself at his home. It was always a fun time, whether there were a few or many. We will always remember and treasure the memories and fun-filled times in this room, which was his pride and joy. He was a cheerful and helpful man who had a heart of gold and loved helping everyone. On October 13, 2023, he was reunited in Heaven with his beloved parents, Alfredo and Alicia Chávez, father-in-law Max Montaño, Tío Robert (Bobby) Montaño; nephews Jaime Chavez, Luciano Ochoa Chávez, Fabian Chavez, and niece Lizeth Santiesteban; grandparents Arsenio and Erminia Manzanares and Ofilia Montaño. Meny is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa Chávez, his mother-in-law, Marcella Montaño, children Karen Chávez and husband Erik Rangel, Joey Rayos, Jennifer Rayos; grandchildren Faith Kimble, Marcella Rayos, Manuel Chávez, JoRiah Rayos, Daniel Hernandez, Laura Aguirre, and Adrian Hernandez; siblings Alfredo Chávez, Javier and Gloria Chávez, Rosa and Jimmy Morales, Lupe and Jorge Santiesteban, René and Karla Chávez, Veronica Chávez, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tawnya and Steven Sanchez, and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be at Terpening and Son Mortuary from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023. The rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Artesia, N.M., and the Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
