Manuel Carrera

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Manuel Olivas Carrera, 1508 W. James Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Carrera, 82, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 in Jal, New Mexico.

Israel H. Carrera will officiate at the services with burial at Lake Arthur Cemetery, Lake Arthur, N.M. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Carrera, David Martinez II, Duwayne Carrera, Mythyas Carrera,Justin Ponce, Aaron Ponce, Christian Carrera and Jacob Esquivel.

Manuel was born September 6, 1929 in Presidio, Texas the son of Gregorio Carrera and Dolores Olivas Carrera. He came to Artesia in September 1945 from Presidio, Texas.

On December 17, 1951 he was married to Felipa H. Carrera in Carlsbad, N.M. She preceded him in death February 18, 1996.

He was a supervisor at the Door of Opportunity and a member of the Assembly of God.

Survivors include sons Manuel Duwayne Carrera and wife Martha, Israel H. Carrera and wife Lucy, and Stephen Carrera and fiance Shannon daughters Mary Carrera, DeeDee Ponce and husband Steve, and Francis Esquivel and husband Sal sisters Felipa Machuca and Enriqueta Carrera brothers Jose Carrera, Concepcion Carrera, Joaquin Carrera, Isidoro Carrera, and Amado Carrera grandchildren Mythyas Carrera and wife Eva, Duwayne Carrera and wife Sarah, Rhainon Carrera, Aaron Ponce, Justin Ponce, Austin Carrera, Uriel Carrera, Miriam Carrera, Amanda Esquivel, David Esquivel, Jacob Esquivel, Shelby Carrera, Sabrina Carrera and Christian Carrera.
