Major Butler

Memorial services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at First Baptist Church for Major Keith Allen Butler of Artesia.

Mr. Butler, 56, was killed in action on Saturday, May 10, 2014 in Afghanistan.

Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

Keith was born August 3, 1957 in Portales, New Mexico the son of Jack C. Butler and Margaret J. Pickerel Butler.

Keith served his country with distinction for 37 years in the United States Marine Corp and Army.

All friends and family are invited to the memorial service.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Butler on March 17, 2013.

Survivors include his mother Margaret Butler of Artesia sons Kyle Butler and wife Kristina of Baton Rouge, LA, Kasey Butler and wife Lindsey of Raleigh, NC, Kevin Butler of Bridgeport, CT brother Dwight Butler and wife Kathy of Grandbury, TX sister Melany Cardwell and husband Greg of Artesia nephews nieces Bowe Butler and wife Ashley of Raleigh, NC, Tye Butler of Clayton, NC, Aubany Porter and husband Blair of Artesia, Kayla Cardwell of Artesia great nephews and nieces Reese Butler, Paxton Butler, and Hudson Porter.
