Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sep. 17, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lupe Sosa Huerta, 707 Cannon Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Huerta, 80, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Artesia General Hospital.
Father Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Roy Salsberry, Ricky Esquibel, Joe Serrano, Gilbert Romo, Mike Panzer, and Ernest Almanza. Honorary pallbearers will be Linda Leyba, Mague Morales, Irene Pando, Eva Leyva, Irma Corona, and Buzzy Rodriguez.
a rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Grace. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Church beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Lupe was born June 13, 1932 in Dayton, New Mexico the son of Cruz Huerta and Cecilia Sosa Huerta. He was a lifelong area resident.
On Oct. 13, 1954 he was married to Vickie Navarrette in Artesia.
He served in the Unites States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a construction laborer and hay loader and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary Mae Mae Romero, several brothers and sisters, a son Lupe Huerta, Jr.
Survivors include his wife Vickie Huerta of Artesia sons Ernie Huerta and wife Olga of Pearland, Texas, Tony Huerta of Artesia, and Tommy Ragland of Artesia daughters Ernestina Navarrette and Simon of Artesia, and Minerva Forister and husband Steve of Artesia brothers Cruz Huerta of Visalia, California, and Cecelio Wero Huerta of Tulare, California grandchildren Matthew Huerta, Sabrina Lara, Ashley Forest, Ysela Navarrette, Ysenia Navarrette, Lillie Krystal Forister, and Shanelle Forister greatgrandchildren Jaycob Huerta, Emileigh Lara, Trinity Forest, and Noah Forest soninlaw Bernie Romero of Artesia.
