Lucy Rascon

Funeral services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lucy Juarez Rascon of Artesia.

Mrs. Rascon, 87, beloved Mother, Wife, and Sister, was called to her eternal resting place on May 30, 2016.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Roberto Rascon, Lucciano Molina, Chris Molina, Christopher Garcia, John Abel Rascon and Gabriel Gamboa. There will be a rosary at the church on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Lucy entered this world on May 26, 1929 in Artesia, NM, born to Rafael Juarez and Paula (Chavez) Juarez. On December 18, 1950 she was married to Abel G. Rascon in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1978.

She was a Supervisor for N.M. Child Support Enforcement Division and also worked at Marsh's Clothing Store. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, loved to read, take photographs and enjoyed family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Raul Juarez and Cruz Juarez, 3 sisters Rachel Analla, Mary Utterback and Linda Barrera, daughter-in-law Odelia Rascon and granddaughter Priscilla Rascon.

Survivors include her sons Abel Rascon Jr. of San Angelo, TX and Steven Rae Rascon of Artesia; daughters Paula Joy Gamboa and husband Danny of Las Cruces, NM and Rene Molina and husband Daniel of Artesia; brothers Bricky Juarez and wife Estella of Artesia and Daniel Juarez and wife Cata of Artesia; sister Virginia French of El Paso, TX; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
