Lucille Eaker

Graveside services are scheduled at 11:00am Saturday, October 14, at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, for Lucille Bailey Eaker, Roswell, N.M. Lucille went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 11, 2006. She was born in Bowie County, Texas on September 6, 1906 to Harrison and Elizabeth Bailey who preceded her in death. She married Price Durst Eaker October 28, 1928 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Her loving husband preceded her in death on May 5, 1977. After living most of her married life in Colorado, Oregon and California, she returned to Roswell in 1977 and has made it her home ever since. Lucille was a member of West Alameda Church of Christ. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting, baking, fishing and playing 42 until her eyesight began to fail her. Lucille was preceded in death by one brother Hank Bailey, and four sisters Ruby Sharp, Jessie Eaker, Bertha Keeth, and Grace Bailey. She was a loving mother to two children, Ida Lee Eaker deceased and Kenneth Durst Eaker who survives her in the home at 104 N. Atkinson. She had four grandchildren, Melodee Smith and her husband David of Houston, Texas; Kevin Eaker of Houston, Texas; Matthew Eaker and his wife Annette of Roswell; and Wendy Gessner and her husband Ed of Albuquerque. She also had 9 great-grandchildren: Ashlee Smith, Amber Smith, Aaron Smith, Ana Cleveland, Christian Eaker, Logan Eaker, Eddie Gessner, Katie Gessner, and Andy Gessner. While her entire family is grieving her loss we praise God for her 100 fruitful years of service. Family and friends will be received at the home of Matthew and Annette Eaker at 406 N. Lea Avenue in Roswell.
