Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lucero Belen Rubio of Tatum, New Mexico.

Ms. Rubio, 18, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Eden, Texas.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos Martinez, Jose Ibanez, Sergio Rubio, Armando Acosta, Gilbert Gonzales, and Pedro Morales. Honorary pallbearers will be Carlos Martinez, Jr., Robert Martinez, Jonas Martinez and Mezmerize Martinez.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Monday beginning at 4:00 p.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Lucero "LuLu" was born April 22, 1996 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the daughter of Sergio Rubio and Patricia (Acosta) Rubio. She was raised in Artesia before moving to Tatum.

"LuLu" was a Tatum High School Student where she played volleyball and basketball. She had dreamt of becoming a Veterinarian. Lucero was of the catholic faith.

Survivors include her parents Patricia Rubio and husband Luis Jimenez of Odessa, Texas, and Sergio Rubio of Mexico; brothers Carlos Martinez and wife Micaella of Tatum, Jose Ibanez of Tatum, and Sergio Rubio and girlfriend Sandy Ramirez of Hobbs, N.M.; sister Angelica Quezada and husband Rudy of Odessa, Texas; her fiance Jacob Lawler of Eden, Texas; 3 nephews; 1 niece; and mother-in-law Sherry Lawler of Austin, Texas.
