Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, at West Main Baptist Church for Loy G. Fletcher of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Fletcher, 76, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Artesia General Hospital. Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Letcher, Jeff Letcher, Lane Fletcher, Christopher Fletcher, Zach Fletcher, Seth Fletcher, and Tyson Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be James Guy, J.T. Jackson, A.A. Klein, and L.B. Johnson. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Fletcher was born July 30, 1933 in Loving, New Mexico; the son of Lucian Fletcher and Johnnie Schnaubert Fletcher. He served his country in the United States Navy. On March 23, 1955 he was married to Avis Jean Taylor in Lovington, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1960 from Carlsbad, N.M. She preceded him in death February 1, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a son, and a daughter. Loy was a Co-owner and operator of Bearing Services for 33 yrs. He was a member of West Main Baptist Church, and love horseracing. Survivors include his daughter Patti Letcher and husband Randy of Artesia; sons Tommy Fletcher of Artesia, and Marty Fletcher of Artesia; brothers Bob Fletcher of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ray Fletcher of Farmington, N.M., and Bevely L. Fletcher of Carlsbad; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Center.
