Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 2, at West Main Baptist Church for Lorine Scrimshire Mathews, 2619 W. Richardson Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Mathews, 68, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at in Lubbock, Texas. Jason Kraft and Belton Mathews will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Brad Mathews, Wesley Mathews, Raymond Mathews, Scott Jones, Michael Jones and Robert Cartwright. Honorary pallbearers will be Cheryl Lynn Cole, Lisa Smith, Traci Mathews and Kelsey Mathews. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Mathews was born August 13, 1940 in Sand Creek, Oklahoma; the daughter of Homer Wesley Scrimshire and Rena Downing Scrimshire. She came to Artesia in 1954 from Wewokea, Oklahoma. On Aug. 15, 1956 she was married to Jerry Mathews in Carlsbad, N.M. She was a housewife and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Okemah, Oklahoma. Survivors include her husband Jerry Mathews of the family home; sons Jerry Lee Mathews and wife Gayla of Artesia, and Belton Mathews and wife Shannon of Artesia; daughters Leona Standard and husband Bill of Welty, Oklahoma, and Mary M. Mathews of Artesia; brothers Homer Scrimshire of Carlsbad, Wesley Scrimshire of Okemah, Oklahoma, and Gary Scrimshire of Artesia; grandchildren Cheryl Lynn Cole, Robert Cartwright and wife Jacqie, Lisa Smith and husband Mark, Brad Mathews and wife Shellie, Traci Mathews, Wesley Mathews, Scott Jones and wife Maryrose, Michael Jones, and Kelsey Mathews; 8 great-grandchildren.
