Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, at First United Methodist Church for Loretta Fay Johnson of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.
Mrs. Johnson, 81, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at her home.
Rev. Monty Leavell will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jordan Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jared Deason, Josh Sellers, Mike Sedillo, and Cory Forrest. Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of Johnson Farms and her neighbors.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Loretta was born February 11, 1933 in Van Zandt County, Texas; the daughter of Word Wells and Mary (Ashby) Wells. She came to the Artesia area as a little girl and was a longtime resident of the area.
On March 25, 1950 she was married to William Isaac "Bill" Johnson in Artesia.
Loretta was a farmer's wife and took care of everything that entailed along with being a homemaker. She was a member of First Methodist Church and enjoyed playing bridge at the Senior Citizens Center. She was also a former 4H Leader, and a member of the Cottonwood Craft Club, .
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son Ronny Bill Johnson.
Survivors include her husband Bill Johnson of the family home; daughter Jeanette Johnson of Cottonwood, N.M.; son Jimmy Johnson and wife Sylvia of Cottonwood; grandchildren Steven Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jessica Sedillo, Amanda Deason, Andrea Sellers, and Angela Forrest; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Thurman Wells of Artesia, and Bobby Wells and wife Patty of Jal, N.M.
