A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Terpening & Son Mortuary Chapel for Lonnie Archer, of Lake Arthur, N.M.
Mr. Archer, 71, died on Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home.
Galen Isaacs will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Carter, J.W. Calaway, and Perry Conner. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Lonnie was born on July 3, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico; the son of Lonnie Archer Sr. and Mary Frances Droigk Archer.
He came to Artesia in 1962 from Alamogordo, N.M. He was married to Serena Fine on June 13, 1969 in Artesia.
Lonnie loved the oilfield and was a supervisor for many years. He was a member of Lake Arthur Baptist Church and the National Hot Rod Association. He loved to fish, hunt, woodworking and mechanicing. He was a huge Lonesome Dove fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Vicki Archer.
Suvivors include his wife Serena of the family home; a son Donald Archer and wife Abby of Artesia; a daughter Sheila Chase and husband Danny of Artesia; a sister Mary Ellen Means of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren Kara Chase and Paul Bratcher, Kelsi Orquiz and husband Richard, Hazer Archer and wife Kayli, and Teagan Bratcher and husband Toby; great-grandchildren Adaleine Bratcher, Bentley Orquiz and Bradley Orquiz.
The family has requested any oilfield workers and friends are invited to wear their overalls to the service, if they would like, in honor of Lonnie.
