Lola Salsberry

July 5, 1913 — September 10, 2003

Services are scheduled at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, September 13 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lola S. Salsberry, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Salsberry, 90, died Wednesday morning, September 10, 2003 at her home. Father Benedict Folger will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Salsberry was born July 5, 1913 in Hondo, New Mexico; the daughter of Telesforo Sanchez and Carolina Miranda Sanchez. On February 5, 1933 she was married to Henry H. Salsberry in Carrizozo, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1944 from San Patricio, N.M. Her husband preceded her in death January 24, 1956. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son William Salsberry; a grandson Johnny Salsberry; brothers Harry Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, and Domingo Sanchez; and by sisters Nina Chavez and Rosa Archuleta. Mrs. Salsberry was a housewife; a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church; and was an active participant and volunteer in community senior activities. Survivors include sons Henry Salsberry, Jr. and wife Leonina of Artesia, Pablo Salsberry of Artesia, and Woodrow Salsberry and wife Vera of Diamond Bar, Calif.; daughters Jane Contreras of West Covina, Calif. and Trina Acker and husband Bill of Moreno Valley, Calif.; brothers Ruben Sanchez and wife Adamas of Tucson, Ariz., Bonnie Sanchez and wife Raye of Las Vegas, Nevada and Albert Sanchez of Artesia; a sister Dora Almanza of Artesia; 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 A.M. Friday. The casket will remain closed at all times.
