Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am Monday, October 7, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Lois Evelyn Jurney of Artesia, New Mexico. Lois requested everyone wear bright, happy colors or yellow.

Mrs. Jurney, 82, died on October 3, 2024 in Artesia.

Terry Reader will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Harmon Jurney, James Jojola, Joel Thurmond, Justin Thurmond, Garrett Kasch, and Roy David Shoemaker.

Lois was born on October 20, 1941 in Pittsburg, Texas; the daughter of Charlie Talton Boyd and Elizabeth Whitfield Boyd. On November 5, 1965 she was married to Charles "Bud" Jurney in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Lois was the biggest Artesia Bulldog fan. She enjoyed playing SkipBo with her friends, crocheting and cooking. She taught anyone that was interested how to cook. She was one of the founding members of the Kitchen Mommas Extension Club. Lois cooked at various cafes such as M&M and schools around the area over her years as well as owned and operated Video Flicks and Lois's Emporium.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include her children Harmon Jurney and wife Favi, and Gayla Jurney; a sister Lou Judd; grandchildren Megan Thurmond and husband Joel, Misty Jurney and Garrett Kasch, and James Jojola; great-grandchildren Justin and Autumn Thurmond.

The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to Brent and the rest of the staff at Covenant Hospital as well as Jamie at Interim Home Health for their kindness and amazing care during this difficult time.

Lois requested that those attending the services please wear yellow or any other cheery color.

In leiu of flowers or donations the family will receive people and play games in Lois' memory at Faith Baptist Church room C110 following the graveside service.
