Lloyd Soleman

September 30, 1922 — July 12, 2013

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for Lloyd Eugene
Soleman of Roswell, New Mexico.

Mr. Soleman, 90, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at Eastern N.M. Medical Center in Roswell.

Cremation is under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

Lloyd was born September 30, 1922 in Independence, Kansas the son of Guy K. Soleman and
Lena Bell Wilson Soleman.

At the age of 22, Lloyd graduated from flight school in Mission, Texas in the early 1940s and as
a commissioned 2nd lieutenant was sent to England as a B17 pilot during World War II. Lloyd
flew 30 missions in Europe within the 861ST Bomb Squadron8th United States Army Air
Forces. Upon completion of his military duties, Lloyd continued his passion for flying and
pursued a career as a flight instructor and worked various jobs crop dusting in the Pecos Valley.

His expertise and passion for flying led him to a career as a chief executive pilot for Robert O. Anderson with Hondo Oil and Gas. After 23 years, Lloyd retired and moved to Artesia in 1980 and continued flying for local companies. Lloyd enjoyed recreational flying, rebuilding aircraft, restoring cars, fishing, hunting and the overall outdoors. He loved his family, friends and always looked forward to flying with his best buds.

He returned to Roswell in 2005 and resided at Peachtree Village Retirement Center. Lloyd enjoyed his last flight earlier this spring with Richard Champion.

As a father, grandpa, greatgrandpa and friend, he will be deeply missed.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Judy R. Owen.

Survivors include his sons Gary K. Soleman of Mills, Wyoming, and Pat L. Soleman and wife Debbie of Artesia, N.M. daughter Mary K. Spence and husband Bruce of Roswell brothers Donald B. Soleman and Robert L. Soleman both of Anniston, Alabama 9 grandchildren Erin Spence, Brian Soleman, Alisa Worley, Jamie Blake, James Davis, Cindy Reaves, Tina Moore, Heather Soleman, and Jennifer Soleman 12 greatgrandchildren and a greatgreatgrandchild
