Lionel Rodriguez

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lionel Reyes Rodriguez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Rodriguez, 67, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Artesia General Hospital.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Lionel was born April 16, 1948 in Artesia; the son of Faustino Rodriguez and Josefa (Reyes) Rodriguez. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

Lionel served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

In 1970 he was married to Amelia Fernandez in Carlsbad, N.M.

He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, V.F.W., and the D.A.V. Lionel loved cooking, cruising the countryside and sightseeing, buying and selling antiques, and the horseraces.

Lionel was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Sammy and Clyde Rodriguez; and a step-brother Abel Rodriguez.

Survivors include his wife Amelia Rodriguez of the family home; daughters Selina Rodriguez of Midland, TX, and Nina Carrera and husband Salim of Roswell, N.M.; son Steven Rodriguez of Artesia; grandchildren Karisma Rodriguez, John Fletcher, Salinda Fletcher, Chasity Carrera, Mercedes Fletcher, Tino Carrera, Demonica Gonzalez, and Estevan Gonzalez; and 5 great-grandchildren.
