Services are scheduled at 9:30 am. Tuesday, August 26, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Lillia Lugo Lara, 808 N. 6th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Lara, 85, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at her home. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Sunny Jr. Molina, Troy Lara, Chicho Lugo, Anthony Lara, Scott Lara and Sergio Urias. A rosary is also scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 am. Monday Mrs. Lara was born July 1, 1923 in Grand Falls, Texas; the daughter of Cruz Lugo and Carolina Huerta Lugo. On August 13, 1942 she was married to Antonio Cortez Lara in Artesia, NM. She was a longtime resident of Artesia. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2000. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and the Apostolado. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild, three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include sons Jimmy Lara and wife Norma of Espanola, N.M., Manuel Lara and wife Frances of Artesia, Cruz Lara and wife Diane of Artesia, and Fermin Burgess of Artesia; daughters Flavia L. Martinez and husband Hector B. of Artesia, Helen L. Molina and husband Sunny of Artesia, and Diana L. Lara of Artesia; sister Rosa Valenzuela of Artesia; 31 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
