Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 29, at Terpening Son Chapel for Lilia Sanchez Ortega, of 3903 W. Grand Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Ortega, 74, died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Artesia General Hospital. Pastor Carlos Rivera of the Spanish Assembly of God will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaime Sanchez, Eugene Ortega, Nieves Sonny Ortega, Richard Orgega, Jr., Dominic Olguin, Freddy Michael Olivas, and Manuel Olivas, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren. A prayer service is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Ortega was born June 12, 1930 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the daughter of Bonifacio F. Sanchez and Marcelina Navarette Sanchez. In 1949 she was married to Epolito Ortega in Artesia. She was a lifelong resident. She was a caregiver at The Door of Opportunity and a member of the Spanish Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and two sons. Survivors include her husband Epolito Ortega of the family home; three daughters Carolina Hernandez of Hobbs, N.M., Gloria Martinez of Odessa, Texas, and Sylvia Olivas of Roswell, N.M.; seven sons Jimmy Sanchez of Artesia, Raymond Ortega of Artesia, Fred Ortega of Artesia, Robert Ortega of Artesia, Albert Ortega of Artesia, Bobby Olguin of Artesia, and Richard Ortega of Amarillo, Texas; one sister Alvesa Sanchez of Artesia; eight brothers Bonifacio Sanchez of Roswell, Jose Sanchez of Roswell, Raymond Sanchez of Roswell, Manuel Sanchez of Roswell, Frank Sanchez of Roswell, Antonio Sanchez of Hagerman, N.M., Santos Sanchez of Artesia, and Samuel Sanchez of Carlsbad; 43 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
