Lila Thompson

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00p.m. Friday, December 4, 2020, at Woodbine Cemetery for Lila Morean Thompson of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Mrs. Thompson, 79, died November 29, 2020, at Landsun Health Care Center in Carlsbad.
Pastor Jerry Jameson of Harvest Fellowship will officiate at the services. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Thompson, Steven Thompson, Micah Thompson, Dustin Thompson, Christopher Claney, and Chris Cook.

Lila was born March 31, 1941 in Cheyenne Oklahoma, the daughter of William Bagsby and Frankie (Duke) Bagsby.

On March 22, 1957 she was married to Alfred Thomas Thompson in Pampa, TX. They moved their family from Oregon to Artesia in 1969.

Lila was a woman of few words, but very intelligent. She was known to deliver hilarious “one liners” when no one was expecting it. She loved spending time with family playing Rummy and Yahtzee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, and in 2015 her husband, Alfred.

Survivors include her son David Thompson & wife Laura of Carlsbad, NM, daughter Robin Claney of Artesia, NM; grandchildren Micah Thompson of Carlsbad, NM, Niki Lawson & husband Josh of Carlsbad, NM, Dustin Thompson of Carlsbad, NM, Kristen Cook & husband Chris of Artesia, NM, and Christopher Claney of Roswell, NM; great granddaughters Ashlynn Lawson, Cheyenne Cook, and Emma Claney, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
