Graveside services are scheduled at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23 at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, N.M. for Lewis Wayne Hendrix of Hope, New Mexico. Mr. Hendrix, 62, died Sunday, July 20, 1997 in Artesia. Rev. Leslie Hendrix will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Jason Hendrix, Troy Hendrix, Andy Lyles, Clifton Dean, Quentin Dean and Michael Thurman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Carvajal, Greg Lyles, Clifford Standard, Butch Donaghe, and Patrick Donaghe. Mr. Hendrix was born November 18, 1934 in Clayton, Oklahoma; the son of Lewis Thomas Hendrix and Elsie McCoy Hendrix. He came to Artesia in 1941 from the Weed, N.M. area. On July 23, 1967 he was married to Barbara Standard in Juarez, Mexico. He was a drilling superintendent in the oil fields; enjoyed training horses and doing day work on ranches; and loved to rodeo, fish, and hunt. Survivors include his wife Barbara Hendrix of the home; sons Kendale Hendrix and wife Monique and Darren Hendrix and wife Rosemary all of Hope; Tommy Hendrix and wife Karen of Texas, Jay Hendrix of California and Lewis Joe Hendrix of Artesia; and daughters Webbie Carvajal and husband Jerry of Alpine, Texas, Leda Lyles and husband Greg of Hagerman, N.M., Dana Dean and husband Quentin of Crow Flat, N.M., and Donna Kay Phillips and Deborah Gail Hendrix both of California. Also surviving are brothers Leslie Teet Hendrix and wife Frances of Hope, and Kenny Hendrix and wife JoLynn and Leon Hendrix and wife Donna all of Artesia; sisters Ruth Ezell and husband Jessie of Artesia, Kay Huffmon and husband Elton of Roswell, N.M. and Phyllis Singleton of Carlsbad, N.M.; 21 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
