Lettie Crausby

Services are scheduled at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 19 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church for Lettie Rose Crausby, 1104 W. Centre Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Crausby, 90, died Monday morning, August 15, 2011 at Artesia General Hospital.

Fr. Brian Guerrini, SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eddy Haughtaling, Stephen Haughtaling, Gregory Eakin, Tony Eakin, Beau Camp, and John Knight. A rosary service is also planned for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthonys. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Lettie was born January 18, 1921 in Timpson, Texas the daughter of Andrew Prycer and Minnie Lee Beasley Prycer.

Lettie married Howard Preston Crausby on August 6, 1939 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He served during World War II and they moved to California for a time during that assignment. They then returned to Timpson and lived there until moving to Artesia in 1953.

A homemaker, Lettie was a devout Catholic and member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a past member of BPOE Does and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents ten siblings an infant son Charles Oneal Crausby a son Raleigh Winston Crausby in 1992 and a granddaughter Teresa Carol Crausby in 1995 due to cancer.

Survivors include her husband Howard Crausby of the family home sons David Crausby and wife Linda of Roswell, N.M. and Owen Crausby of Artesia a daughter Teresa Schmid and husband Rollie of Artesia 13 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of ones choice.
