A Memorial service is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, at Terpening & Son chapel for Mrs. Lessie May (Maisie) Donaghey of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Donaghey, 89, died Thursday, October 13,2016, at the Good Life Senior Living Center in Artesia.
Larry Angell, Bryan Barnett, Jim Barnett, and Christopher Donaghey will be officiating at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening &Son Mortuary.
The family will be greeting visitors from 4-6 p.m. Monday, October 17, at 1607 W. Dallas Avenue in Artesia.
Maisie was born May 3,1927 in Norman, Oklahoma the daughter of George Lester (Jack) Grubaugh and Ora (Beggs) Grubaugh.
On February 9,1948, she married the love of her life, Billy Jack Donaghey in Ada, Oklahoma. In 1951, they moved to Sinton, Texas, where Maisie became very active in the Girl Scout organization until the family moved to Artesia, New Mexico, in the summer of
1965. Upon arrival in Artesia, she began working for J. S. Ward &Son, Inc., until her retirement.
She and Bill loved their family and loved traveling after their retirement, often taking as many grandchildren with them as possible. Maisie was a dedicated Christian who lived her life doing what she could for her family and other but most of all for her Lord. She was a
member of the Hope Church of Christ in Hope, New Mexico.
Survivors include 2 sisters, Jane Ogilbee and husband Dave of Humble, Texas, and Elsa Gay and husband John of The Woodlands, Texas; 2 daughters, Linda Barnett and husband Jim of Artesia, Susan Angell and husband Larry of Wichita, Kansas; son Gary Donaghey and
wife Vicki of Lubbock, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Donaghey and wife Candace of Severna Park, Maryland, Robert Donaghey and wife Kristie of Gallatin Gateway, Montana, Heather Donaghey-Sprunck and husband Mike of Round Rock, Texas, Amy Angell Schlosser
and husband Kent, Lori Angell Asher and husband Andy all of Wichita, Kansas, Stacy Angell Rogers and husband Jared of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Bryan Barnett and wife Yonara of San Diego, California, and Nathan Barnett and wife Rachel of Bolivar, Missouri; and 18 great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother.
