Laverne Strawn

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Terpening Son Chapel for Laverne Strawn, 37 Billy Drive, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Strawn, 75, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her home.

Cecil Kimberlin will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.

Laverne was born May 29, 1938 in Portales, New Mexico the daughter of Preston Jack Gotcher and Letha Malone Gotcher. She was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On Feb. 14, 1980 she was married to Vyron Buddie Strawn in Carlsbad, NM. He preceded her in death in 2009.

She was a rural mail carrier with the Lake Arthur Post Office and retired in 2011. She was of the Baptist Denomination.

She was preceded in death by a son Holly Ray Norsworthy, a sister, two brothers, a grandson, and a greatgranddaughter.

Survivors include daughters Debbie Dunn and husband Joe of Hobbs, N.M., and Beverly Newsom and husband Robin of Artesia sons Larry Norsworthy and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Texas, and Timothy Norsworthy of Artesia sisters Shirley Sanchez of Artesia, and Glenda Maurer and husband Mike of Artesia brother Preston Gotcher and wife Bobbie of Gainesville, Texas grandchildren Amber Thornton, Kodi Morriss and husband J.D., Kris Newsom and wife Julie, Tracy Dunlap, Justin Norsworthy and wife Darcy, Dustin Norsworthy and wife Lee, Melissa Williford and husband Charles, Christy Smith, Will Smith and wife Nicole, Donny Stafford and wife Analisa, and William Harris greatgrandchildren Samera and Aubrey Hernandez, Demiry Morriss, Kendall Newsom, Magean Crawford, Joseph Calderon, Leyton Norsworthy, Kalobe Norsworthy, Holly Norsworthy, Eli Norsworthy, Sage Norsworthy, Ella Norsworthy, Javarious Williford, Alex and Sadie Williford, Zabrina Smith, Jazlynn Smith, Brycen Smith, Alexa Stafford, Tyler Stafford, and Donovan Harris greatgreatgrandchildren Natalie, Bryan and Courtney Crawford numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends that will miss her dearly.
