Kenneth Mortensen

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Latter Day Saints Church for Kenneth Lawrence Mortensen, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Mortensen, 86, died Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Artesia, New Mexico.

Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Dial, Adam Mortensen, Harland Mortensen, Michael Chandler and Elders of the LDS Church.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at noon Thursday.

Kenneth was born April 18, 1927 in Manassa, Colorado the son of Lawrence Mortensen and Fannie Gibson Mortensen. He was a longtime resident of Artesia.

On March 19, 1950 he was married to Mary Jane Berger in Taos, NM.

He was a truck driver for Groendyke and a member of Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Lynn Chandler, a brother and 4 sisters.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jane Mortensen of Artesia sons Ken Wayne Mortensen of Pasadena, Texas, Harland Brent Mortensen of Artesia, and Adam Mortensen of Tarpon Springs, Florida daughters Lola Dial of Naples, Florida, Rita Mortensen of Denver, Colorado, Carla Kallas of Spanish Fork, Utah, Toni Mortensen of Richmond, Utah, and Tammy Mortensen of Carlsbad, NM brother Herman Mortensen of Albuquerque, NM sister Joyce Hess of California 27 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren and greatgreatgrandchildren.
